Different from compression springs, the design concept of helical tension springs (also called extension springs) is a helical spring used to withstand axial tension, while compression springs are elastic elements used to withstand axial pressure. The tension spring consists of a spiral part and a hook-and-loop part. The shackles at both ends are connected to the application object. When the application object moves, the distance between the two ends of the tension spring is axially displaced, and the tension of the shackles at both ends will pull the application object back to the initial state. The tension spring also has the function of absorbing and storing energy. The initial tension determines the tightness of the coil when the tension spring is wound around the spring.
The biggest feature of the tension spring is the various shackles at both ends, and the various forms of shackles are suitable for the use requirements of different occasions. It should be noted that the stress at the transition between the working spring ring and the shackle is relatively concentrated, and it is easy to break here during use, and most of the tension springs are scrapped because of this part failure. Therefore, when processing the shackle, the radius of curvature of the transition part should be increased as much as possible to reduce the phenomenon of stress concentration.
